BURKINABIAN REFUGEES FLY TO THE NORTH

The situation continues to deteriorate in Burkina where terrorist groups are gaining ground and pushing an increasing number of people to take refuge in neighboring Côte d’Ivoire, particularly in the north of this border country.

Two reception centers are already open to shelter these people in distress.

What is happening now proves that the coup regime of Ibrahim Traoré cannot stop the deadly advance of terrorists / jihadists who have been targeting Burkina since the ousting of dictator Blaise Compaoré from power in 2014.

The political, social and economic failure of his successor, Roch Kaboré (following the transitional presidents Zida and Kafando), yet democratically elected, precipitated a military coup, then a second which did not bring a credible solution.

Because if the competence of the Burkinabè soldiers had been proven, the various regimes which had succeeded one another in the country, from Lamizana to Sankara and Compaoré would have brought the country out of poverty, illiteracy and corruption, among other social gangrenes which undermine this landlocked state, without great natural resources.

The new putschist Traoré is barely out of adolescence (34 years old) and has as a reference the Russia of Putin and Wagner, who could miraculously achieve for Burkina (peace, development and social success for the citizens), what they could not do for their own country.

Indeed, if Russia, heiress of the USSR, has an advanced space and nuclear industry, its population lives poorly, and its level of development is equivalent to that of Spain.

Russia, the largest state in the world which is one of the largest oil producers and which has all kinds of mining and, above all, human resources, has the means to ensure an exceptional standard of living for its people.

But this is not the case, for lack of democracy and especially by the choice to favor corrupt elites (billionaire oligarchs, who for the most part have deserted the country, under Western embargo), instead of emphasizing the well-being of citizens.

This country cannot be a model for a free Africa, determined to overcome poverty and illiteracy as a priority.

It’s pathetic to see soldiers from Burkina Faso and Mali, but also Central Africans subcontracting their mission of defending the homeland to mercenaries like those of Wagner.

The few young people manipulated should open their eyes, given the terrorist insecurity which, like a cancer, is metastasizing on the national territory.

Wagner is not the solution, the national militias, either.

It takes a well-organized army, led by competent and experienced, patriotic and courageous officers.

To set the tone and mobilize civilian populations.

The people of Burkina Faso have the means to defeat the terrorists, if they are mobilized, united and determined, with enlightened leadership.

Lucid, Ibrahim Traoré recognized that the terrorists are becoming stronger and stronger.

It is an admission of failure and the ministerial reshuffle he has operated is cautery on a wooden leg.

The flow of refugees to Côte d’Ivoire should wake up Burkinabè citizens.

Their homeland is in mortal danger.
